Lean, Agile and Flow conferences in 2024
With the end of the year fast-approaching I’m thinking about our 2024 Lean, Agile and Flow conferences. Once again we’re running 4 in-person conferences for reflective practitioners.
Agile Manchester: May 15th-17th — running since 2015 this event is firmly established as the agile and lean event for the NW of England. I’ve been a programme reviewer once more, supporting programme chair Andy Longshaw. Andy has also convened an advisory panel to help shape the event to community needs. Not yet sure if I will make it along this time but I will definitely miss that lovely community if not.
Lean Agile Scotland: September 25–27th — The brilliant Chris McDermott established this event on the European Lean and Agile scene in 2012 and it’s remained a must-attend event ever since — with participants coming from all over Europe and North America in addition to the strong Scottish contingent. I took over running this event a few years ago with Steve Smith as programme chair for the past few years. I’ll be putting this year’s programme together though as Steve has stepped down (Thank you again Steve for keeping the flame alive). I’ve also put together an advisory panel and enlisted a co-chair — to be announced shortly — to make sure the event continues to be on-point as a cutting edge practitioner event, on the ‘hard setting’.
Agile Cambridge: October 2nd-4th — I founded this event in 2010 to create an open, safe and welcoming space for curious practitioners. I was at this year’s event and — thanks to the participants and the events team — I can say the event continues to meet that vision — so many lovely and thoughtful people participated and it was great to catch up with old friends and make new ones. I’m programme chair for this year’s event, also assembling and advisory panel and looking for a local, long-term chair so I can step back in 2025!
Agile in the City: Bristol: November 6–7th — We’re back in Bristol at our regular venue M-Shed. I love the location of this venue, right in the heart of the city. John Clapham continues as panel chair — a good friend, mentor and very experienced practitioner and coach. I would love to be back at the event this year — maybe I should submit a session!
With a global pandemic the past few years have been very difficult for all of us. Our small events company has been badly affected and after the UK furlough scheme ended we had to make most of our roles redundant. We’ve now rebuilt the team though — under the brilliant Allison Beaumont — run a full year of in-person conferences this year and will be running 7 events in total next year — 6 in-person and 1 online — our 4 agile events above and our 3 design-oriented conferences:
(Online) SDinGov in March, UX Scotland in May and SDinGov (In-Person) in September. Hope to see you at one of these events this year.
